I grew up an extremely fussy child. I existed on weet-bix, peanut butter, cheese, sausages, cheesy pasta, eggs, junk food and a handful of other things. Needless to say it would be easier to list what I did eat rather that what I didn't. Any new food stressed me out and I couldn't swallow it and would often gag.
Something I realise was completely in my head.
I was lucky to live semi rural, so was not a complete couch potato, but did not participate in sports.
Through my late teens/early 20's I tried taking up the gym, swimming and the like in fits and starts but nothing stuck. But through lack of a car I walked, biked and bused everywhere. And was in a rescue team for a number of years.
Finally after having kids, I had an epiphany. Actually I was just bored of eating the same stuff and decided that it wouldn't kill me to try new foods. Years later I have expanded the foods I eat quite a bit, but still have to force myself to try things, it can still be too easy (and safe) not to.
